Guided Chi Gong Practice
Sunday, May 3, 2020 — 7:30 AM to 8:00 AM

Come experience an introduction to a guided chi gong practice which has been called, “mindfulness in motion.” Designed by a master of chi gong, this chi gong form for beginners is easy to practice and offers an effective combination of breath, mindfulness, and movement to reduce tension and enhance eudemonic well-being. The mindfulness component of chi gong distinguishes it from exercise alone. This guided chi gong session is practiced sitting, standing, and walking. The session will help reduce tension in the body, while helping to create deeper awareness of the body and breath. Furthermore, the existing literature on meditative movement demonstrates its efficacy in improving sleep apnea, improving balance, reducing daytime sleepiness, and reducing self-ratings of depression and anxiety. This practice is taught within the context of a West meets East perspective

Three Takeaways:

Challenging: Adding to participants’ knowledge of mindfulness by introducing a movement form of mindfulness with a long tradition and lineage

Integrative: This is presented through an integrative perspective of West meets East with a scientific context

Actionable: Attendees can walk away with knowledge of a practice they can do anywhere and learn about the utilization of their breath
